CALL FOR ART
Group Exhibition in Saskatoon
We are pleased to open submissions for a week-long group exhibition on the theme of grandmas, as part of Saskatoon’s 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival presented with Riversdale Chinatown, curated by Ketty Haolin Zhang.
An artist fee of $1000 will be provided for an installation or large-scale piece, and other selected artists will each receive a CARFAC exhibition fee of $515. For works available for sale, artists receive 65% of sales in addition to exhibition fee. Artists based anywhere in Canada are welcome to apply. A few spots in the show are reserved for Saskatchewan-based artists. Artists are responsible for shipping to and from Saskatoon.
We are interested in works that reflect on maternal kinship, personal histories, intergenerational relationships, cultural traditions, and diverse forms of knowledge-sharing. Rather than only seeing grandmothers as subjects, this exhibition recognizes them as active contributors to community life.
While inspired by conversations emerging from Saskatoon's Chinatown community, the exhibition is not limited to Chinese-Canadian experiences. We encourage submissions from artists of all backgrounds whose work responds meaningfully to the exhibition theme. Each artist must have a genuine connection to a grandmother, elder, or maternal figure, whether biological, chosen, or community-based.
We invite submissions across all media. Both existing works and proposals for new works are welcome. The week-long exhibition will be presented alongside community programming within the exhibition space, including workshops, conversations, and intergenerational activities.
