Adrian Stimson

Adrian Stimson

Adrian Stimson is a member of the Siksika (Blackfoot) Nation in southern Alberta, Canada. Adrian has a BFA with distinction from the Alberta College of Art and Design and MFA from the University of Saskatchewan. He considers himself as an interdisciplinary artist and exhibits nationally and internationally. His paintings are varied yet his use of black and white monochromatic paintings that depict bison in imagined landscapes are well known, they are melancholic, memorializing, and sometimes whimsical, they evoke ideas cultural fragility, resilience and nostalgia. The British Museum recently acquired two paintings for their North American Indigenous collection.

Carol Wylie

Carol Wylie

Carol Wylie is an experienced local painter with expertise in portraiture and figuration. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Master in Fine Arts from Vermont College of Fine Arts; her portraits emphasize the human form through brilliant juxtaposition of complementary colours and use of in-person model studies. Her pieces ultimately create a separate presence to the observer through an oil paint medium.

Hailey Weber

Hailey Weber

Hailey Weber is a Saskatoon-based artist who explores life experiences through her brilliant large-scale mixed media works. She has recently attained a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours degree with the University of Saskatchewan (2023). Weber also plans to pursue a Master of Fine Arts degree. She expertly connects viewers with their own memory and sense of belonging which is captured in her artwork; straddling the physical and non-physical spaces that we hold inside.

Jillian Bogan

Jillian Bogan

Jillian Bogan is a skilled multi-media artist who approaches most of her work through experimentation and examination of figurative expression. She recently completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours degree locally from the University of Saskatchewan this spring (2023). Bogan explores events depicting the extreme extent of raw human expression through her figurative paintings. She creates depth within her paintings by using layers of stacked acrylic paint on raw canvas.

Jordan Baraniecki

Jordan Baraniecki

Jordan Baraniecki is a Saskatoon based artist known for his impeccably detailed, three-dimensional ink collages. Baraniecki has previously received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 2016 and a Major in Fine Arts from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2022. He skillfully explores the subconscious and psychological observations of the self while also depicting alterations of telescopic and microscopic lenses in respect to the viewer throughout his body of work.

Mike Remando

Michael Remando

Michael Remando is a Saskatoon-based painter whose work explores the wonder of wildlife through a playful lens. His work is currently shown throughout the prairies at Fallen Leaf Gallery (Canmore Alberta) and Black Spruce Gallery (Waskesiu Lake Saskatchewan). Remando depicts local animals with a sense of energy and movement through his strategic use of bright and vibrant acrylic colours.

Rowen Dinsmore

Rowen Dinsmore

Rowen Dinsmore is a local artist who received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 2022. Influenced by social media and art history, she studies what it means to be a woman in the modern era through an artistic lens, often approaching topics of spectatorship, the gaze, and the feminine form. Through her work in painting, printmaking, and video installations, she uses these mediums to develop layers that abstract and complicate the portrait, offering both a critique and an embrace of these aspects of the female experience in a post-internet world.

Colleen AJ Smith

Colleen A.J. Smith

Colleen is an artist, writer and tattooist. She seeks to explore concepts of identity, shifting aspects of humanity and notions of bodily autonomy within her creative practice. She holds a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Drawing and Creative Research from the University of Calgary and has had her performative practice showcased through both the University of London, Goldsmiths, as well as the Marina Abramovic Institute.
 

She is the recipient of numerous awards for her art and writing, including the Queen Elizabeth II Humanities grant. Her work has been exhibited in galleries throughout North America, Europe and the United Kingdom and can be found in private collections throughout Europe and Canada. Colleen currently creates and resides in the beautiful city of Saskatoon, Canada.


Uniting the Prairies is Colleen’s first curatorial endeavour.
